Patricia recently shared a sobering thought with me by A. W. Tozer that she had written in her Quiet Time notes some time ago. It is taken from his book, “The Knowledge of the Holy” under the caption, “God’s Infinitude.”
The days of the years of our lives are few and swifter than a weaver’s shuttle. Life is s short, fevered rehearsal for a concert we cannot stay to give. Just when we appear to have attained some proficiency we are forced to lay our instruments down. There is simply not enough time to think, to become, to perform what the constitution of our nature indicates what we are capable of.
How completely satisfying to turn from our limitations to a God who has none…Eternal years lie in His heart…and those who are in Christ share with Him all the riches of limitless time and endless years. God never hurries, There no deadlines against which He must work. Only to know this is to quiet our spirits and relax our nerves.
For those outside of Christ, however, time is a devouring beast., while before the “sons of the New Creation” time can only crouch and purr and lick their hands…
Is it permissible for me to print this entry? How insightful!
How wonderful is His love for His own.
Also, I came across how you wrote the song Child of My Child I Love You which spoke of your Grandfather. Is there anything that I could print to give to our Grandchildren about your story?
Glenna, I apologize for not responding sooner to your comment on our site. Yes you may copy God’s Infinitude and as for something to give your grandchildren, you may of course copy the words to Child of My Child along with the comments I made about my grandfather whom I called Gang Gang. The Lord used him to make a profound impact on my life when I was a child. He did not do a lot of talking but I watched him do a lot of “walking,” living out the truths of the gospel.
