We’re back from creating special Christmas memories with Florida friends and Texas family. Now, as another a year nears it’s close, a year that seems to have passed unusually fast, we look back with gratitude for God’s faithfulness and look forward to what lies ahead.

I like the way C. H. Spurgeon worded this moment on life’s calender, based on Psalm 73:24. “You will guide me with your counsel, and afterward receive me to glory.” He said:

“From day to day and from year to year my faith believes in the wisdom and love of God…No good word of His has ever failed and I’m sure that none shall ever fall to the ground. I put myself into His hand for guidance. I know not the way I should choose; the Lord shall choose my inheritance for me…I need counsel and advise and I look to the Lord as the High Priest of old looked to his Urim and Thummim. I seek the counsel of the infallible God in preference to my own judgement or the the advise of friends. Glorious Jehovah Thou shalt guide me!

“Soon the end will come in a few more years, and I shall depart this world unto my Father. My Lord will be near my bed and He will meet me at heaven’s gate. He will welcome me to the glory-land. I shall not be a stranger in heaven. My own God and Father will receive me to its endless bliss.

“GLORY BE TO HIM WHO WILL GUIDE ME HERE, AND RECEIVE ME HEREAFTER. AMEN!”

Be encouraged friends. We are in good hands!
