Patricia and I have just returned from an exciting and profitable time with friends in Michigan (had an opportunity to minister in song to a group Sunday AM), then a stop-over in St. Louis to attend several sessions of the ION (International Orality Network) of which Avery Willis was a founder and served as director before his home-going. It was an eye-opening experience and will be a major help to me in writing Avery’s story as we found ourselves among representatives of the orality movement from many parts of the globe. For those of you who wish to learn more about ION and its focus on the 70% of the unreached people groups of the world that do not read, their website is www.orality.net. To understand ION’s background and purpose I suggest you read, “How We Began.” Their mandate is to influence the Body of Christ to make disciples of all oral learners.
