As we’ll soon be closing out one year and entering another, I’m reminded again how grateful I am for God’s grace. So grateful!! “For by grace I have been saved, through faith, and that not of myself; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest I should boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9, paraphrase).

BY GOD’S GRACE ALONE
I once was dead, but by God’s grace
I have been made alive!
It is the mercy of my God,
Through Him I’m justified.
Just-as-if I had never sinned,
Complete in Christ I rest.
Assured of this, I now am clothed
In His own righteousness.

In sin I came into this world,
In helplessness was born.
Bound by the chains of Adam’s race,
In darkness I was formed.
Without the strength to even cry:
“Oh God, help me to see,”
Then, in His resurrection power
God came, God came to me.

The mystery of redeeming love,
I cannot understand.
Beyond all human means to know,
The depth of God’s own plan.
Giving to me the gift of faith
so that I might believe.
Oh hallelujah, praise His name,
This gift I have received.

I’m saved…I’m saved…
Praise God I now am saved.
Though worthy only of God’s wrath,
By grace I have been saved.
Not of my works, lest I should boast;
NOTHING that I have done.
It’s all God’s mercy, all His love,
IT’S BY GOD’S GRACE ALONE!
